LANGUAGE OF MEMORY (8)

55 x 55cm. 2019. Acrylic, ink and graphite on silk.

After many iterations of marks and shapes found on location in woodland areas initial visual research was reduced to a few essential gestures; creating a new composition using echoes of memories transformed through time and process into an imagined and fully abstracted landscape.

Series Overview

The Language of Memory (Subjectivity of Perception) series evolved from studies of trees completed in situ and subsequently transformed, through a process of iteration and investigation, into indeterminate forms recording the memory of place. The process aims to build a personal language with which to explore the experience of being physically present, questioning the subjectivity of our individual experiences.
